Prospective home buyers will be able to access thousands of property images and renovation ideas from a range of Australian properties via a new service on realestate.com.au.

The company said the ‘home ideas’ function will allow consumers to search thousands of images that are categorized by space, for example kitchens or bathrooms; style, for example art deco or country; along with key features or building materials.

“We were keen to meet the needs of the rapidly growing home renovation community by allowing them to search for inspiration and idea using the web and their tablets - such as iPads,” said REA group chief product officer, Henry Ruiz.

“With 63 per cent of renovators seeking both inspiration and education when researching their renovations, home ideas makes that search process more enjoyable whilst also providing helpful search categories.”

The company pointed to Australia’s “national obsession with renovating and property improvement” as the driving force behind its decision to add the new functionality.
