Laing+Simmons, a NSW-based real estate group with 45 offices, has selected three school leavers to participate in a scholarship program that has created permanent jobs for 20 school leavers since its inception 15 years ago.
“Our program has proven a tremendous success over the years, with many Laing+Simmons offices benefitting directly from the efforts of these talented young people,” said the company’s general manager, Leanne Pilkington.
“In fact, 20 students over the past 15 years have gained employment within the Group through the scholarship program.”
The Laing+Simmons scholarship program allows school leavers to experience the day-to-day operation of one of 50 Laing+Simmons real estate offices. A number of former students are then chosen to receive the scholarship and at least one winner gains a full time position within the Laing+Simmons Group.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Jamie Barba, Robert Feltrin and Luke Lombardi.
Ms Pilkington said all three were mentored by a senior member of the Laing+Simmons management team to ensure the right techniques, skills and standards of practise are learned at the outset of these students’ bright future careers.
Of the previous scholarship participants, 2011 winner Jamie Barba is working as a sales assistant at Laing+Simmons Quakers Hill, while Philip Tarrant, residential sales executive at Laing+Simmons Mosman, has also just clocked up 10 years of working at Laing+Simmons after winning the scholarship program.
“Laing+Simmons is proud of this initiative and commitment, which has not faltered during the unstable market conditions in the past few years,” Ms Pilkington added.
