REA Group, owner of realestate.com.au, has appointed 25-year IT industry veteran Nigel Dalton as its new chief information officer.
Mr Dalton, who will commence on 4 June, most recently co-founded a consultancy, Luna Tractor, to help businesses apply systems thinking and software development methodologies to all aspects of business.
Before that, he worked for travel publisher Lonely Planet as general manager of information technology, becoming deputy director of digital in 2010.
Mr Dalton has also held roles with AXA Australia, ePredix in the US, and Silicon Systems and Mitsubishi Electric in New Zealand.
“Nigel’s passion for technology and experience in building online businesses will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and grow our businesses in Australia and overseas,” said REA Group managing director and CEO, Greg Ellis.
REA Group said its CIO for the past three years, Daniel Oertli, will depart the business on 11 May 2012 to pursue new business opportunities.
“I would like to thank Daniel for providing outstanding technology leadership over the past three years and wish him all the very best for the future,” commented Mr Ellis.
The appointment comes not long after REA Group selected News Corporation executive Hamish McLennan as its new chairman.
