Networking is priceless, says top agent

Agents must take the time to 'refocus and recharge' with training and education, and network with other like-minded industry professionals, according to a leading Brisbane agent.

“Often life gets in the way and chaos happens, and the things we know we should be doing get pushed to the side,” Edgar Natolo told Real Estate Business at the recent Advanced Real Estate Learning (AREL) Conference in Sydney.

Mr Natolo is currently undergoing a real estate challenge, in which he endeavors to earn $1 million in commission this year.

“Coming to a conference like this is a good way to refocus," he continued.

“The energy around spending time with people who want to better their business is priceless.

“That one good idea can lead to two, three, ten sales."

“When I first began my challenge back in October/November I did all the conferences and met with the right people, like [McGrath Estate Agents principal] Mat Steinwede, and that has [boosted] my business.”

Over 250 agents and principals flocked to Sydney for the AREL 12 Conference last Thursday.

The jam packed day included 12 presentations from national and international speakers including Jason Andrews of Jason Andrews Auctioneers, Paul Tonich from Altitude Real Estate, Garth Makowski, Harcourts number one agent, Simon T. Bailey from Brilliance Institute USA and Imran Poladi, CEO of Keller Williams Realty Central USA.

Organiser and head of events, Leanne Howard, said the day was a huge success.

“I think we really delivered on what we promised, which was a one-day event packed with real estate content and full of take home value,” she told Real Estate Business at the event.

“As I walk around the room I’ve seen people writing pages and pages of notes and I have seen that light bulb moment going on in people’s heads.

“Everyone will go away from this event with a lot of great ideas they can implement in their business and see some changes.”

The host on the day, Rik Rushton, award winning agent from Rangers First National, said the strength of the conference was that agents could implement the strategies they learn straight away.

“The feedback I am hearing from attendees across the board is that there is good content, that they can take away and use it as soon as they get back to the office,” he said.

“There is less of the big motivational stuff and more of the what to do and how to do it.”
