A top principal has separated from his franchise network to become part of an exclusive boutique agency in Victoria.
Glen Coutinho, and his partners Nick and Paul Walker, have rebranded their Melbourne-based office to open the 14th RT Edgar’s shop front in Boroondara, near Hawthorn.
While Mr Coutinho stressed that he loved working under the hockingstuart brand, he told Real Estate Business the decision to switch to a boutique was necessary to reach the top end of the market.
“We’ve been with hockingstuart for nearly 15 years, and they have 45 offices all across Melbourne, which is fantastic," he said.
“But the exclusiveness associated with the RT Edgar brand lets us tap into the very top end of the property market.”
Mr Coutinho believed hockingstuart’s vast presence across Melbourne taps into all markets, while the boutique offices are tailored to specific markets.
“We wanted to target that really top-end of the property ladder,” he said.
Since reopening under the RT Edgar banner, Mr Coutinho has broken listing-price records, with one breaking the $8 million mark.
Mr Coutinho came fourth overall in the Real Estate Business Top 100 agents ranking earlier this year.
