National licensing info sessions to begin next wk

Real estate industry professionals can learn more about proposed national licensing rules via a series of information sessions in each capital city in August and September.

The property new licensing rules, which are due to take effect on July 1, 2013, have already sparked strong debate within the real estate industry.

Much of the debate has centred around the absence of a Contunuing Professional Development (CPD) component in the draft rules, and what some consider as insufficient entry-level education standards.

The Coalition of Australian Governments (COAG) has invited people to attend the following sessions (all session times include a 30 minute registration period):

Canberra: Waldorf on London, 2 Akuna Street, Civic, 1.00pm to 4.30pm, 29 August 2012

Darwin: Vibe Hotel, 7 Kitchener Drive, Waterfront Darwin, 9am-12.30pm, 5 September

Melbourne: Novotel on Collins, 270 Collins St, Melbourne, 11 September, 9am-12.30pm

Adelaide: Stamford Grand, Moseley Square, Glenelg, 12 September, 9am-12.30pm

Sydney: Quay Grand Suites, 61 Macquarie Street, East Circular Quay, 14 September, 1pm-4.30pm

Hobart: The Old Woolstore, 1 Macquarie Street, 19 September, 9am-12.30pm

Brisbane: Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Grey Street, Plaza Level, 21 September, 1pm-4.30pm

Perth: Mercure Perth, 10 Irwin Street, Perth, September 25, 1pm-4.30pm
