An agent from Sydney’s lower north shore has won this year’s Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW) Novice Auctioneers Competition state final.
David Gillan, sales consultant at Ray White Lower North Shore, in Neutral Bay, was selected the winner late last week by a panel of four judges, who judged on confidence and poise, as well as how well the item is described, control of bidding and use of gavel.
According to the REINSW, the state final, together with the 16 local heats, raised over $108,000 for charities across NSW including St Vincent De Paul and Make A Wish Australia.
REINSW president Christian Payne said the Novice Auctioneers Competition showed how agents are giving back to the community.
“I am very proud of this event and the professionalism of these young auctioneers,” he said. “It is really rewarding for those involved and it continues to grow in popularity across the state.”
The Novice Auctioneers Competition is an annual event for REINSW and is open to entrants over 16 who live in NSW and have not completed more than 10 auctions, or have no more than six months’ experience as a livestock or chattel auctioneer.
