A new search tool is expected to make it easier for prospective buyers to locate new property developments on realestate.com.au, according to the listing website’s owner, REA Group.

“Our new map-based search is a more intuitive way for consumers to search for development projects,” said Andrew Wilkinson, head of product for media and developer at REA Group.

“The number of projects is clearly identified within regions by red clusters. Once you select a region, a cluster of pins appear showing the different developments within the selected region.”

According to REA Group, a consumer looking in the New Apartment or Land Estate sections of realestate.com.au can now search via a map which illustrates where the developments are underway on a national, regional and local level.

The new map-based discovery feature visually clusters new projects which highlights areas that have new developments to prospective buyers.

“Of the three million people visiting our site every month, we know that people visiting the New Homes section of the site are highly engaged and motivated, spending an average of 46 minutes on site,” Mr Wilkinson said.

“This dedicated showcase of new developments allows motivated buyers to quickly connect with individual projects,” Mr Wilkinson said.

For developers, REA Group said the greater search flexibility means that there are now two ways for potential buyers to find their developments on realestate.com.au, either through the Buy section or the enhanced New Homes section.
