Harcourts has expanded its footprint in north Queensland, with a local franchisee opening an office in Yeppoon and announcing plans for more in the region.

The new office, Harcourts Capricornia, has been opened by Kevin Briggs, who also operates the nearby shopfront at Harcourts Gracemere.

Yeppoon is located on the coast, 40 kilometres north east of Rockhampton.

“I’ve been involved with Harcourts for the past 14 years both as an agent and a business owner in Queensland, and when it came time to open Capricornia it simply made sense given Harcourts’ strong brand name and the strong support they offer,” Mr Briggs said.

Mr Briggs said he has big plans for his businesses in north Queensland.

“I want to grow Harcourts Capricornia to cover the area, with three offices in Gracemere, Yeppoon and Rockhampton, and make it the force in the area that it once was,” he said.

“Ideally, I would like to have around 15 agents on board who all generate good sales figures, and increase the rent role by another 100 properties over the next 12 months.

“I also want to develop a better accepted auction culture within the region,” Mr Briggs added.

Mr Briggs remains optimistic the resources sector will continue to underpin the Yeppoon property market.

“The market at the moment is quite buoyant and I see this continuing into 2013 with high growth forecast in the mining industry,” Mr Briggs said.
