Auction numbers low, clearance rates high

Auctions numbers may have been modest on Saturday, yet most of those that took the plunge achieved a result.

In Sydney, the auction clearance rate hit 71.7 per cent, according to Australian Property Monitors (APM). The strong result was based on 44 reported auctions.

This was well up on the 53.4 per cent clearance rate recorded on the Saturday earlier.

In Melbourne, the clearance rate was a more modest 54.3 per cent, based on 74 auctions. This was lower than the 60.1 per cent result posted the Saturday earlier.

Less than 10 auctions were recorded in each of Brisbane and Adelaide on the weekend.
