Social website seeks agent feedback

Agents are being asked to contribute fresh ideas about how a website that centralises social media for industry professionals can improve.

Housenet.com.au, a social network for local property that launched late last year, said it hopes to use the power of crowdsourcing to uncover and confirm ideas for new features on the site.

“I guess it’s a bit unusual for a site like ours to do this,” said CEO Darren Moffatt. “The normal process would be to work up some new functionality and discreetly test this with small groups of users before rolling out to full release.

“But we’re a social network; we live and die by the utility our members and agents derive from using the site. So why not involve everyone in the process?"

Housenet has described itself as “Facebook adapted just for the local property market”, and includes blogs, forums, profile pages, and a property people directory. It also allows users to publish their social media content to Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter with just one click.

The site also includes a listings engine, and it allows consumers to follow their favourite agents.

Housenet.com.au said it is offering lifetime premium memberships, free advertising, 'bragging rights’ and entry into the ‘Housenet Hall of Fame’ to people who make suggestions that eventually make it through the process.

“We’re encouraging anyone who’s a creative thinker, or social media fanatic, to jump on Housenet and make a suggestion for a feature or improvement,” Mr Moffat continued. “The best ideas will then be put in a poll to our membership and we’ll aim to implement the most popular suggestions."
