The annual Australasian Real Estate Results Network (RERN) awards were held at Luna Park in Sydney early this week to recognise members for their outstanding achievements in the real estate industry.
mcconnell bourn estate agents, from Lindfield NSW, took out the Agency of the Year award, with co-founder Matthew Bourn claiming the network added to the success of his agency.
“It’s certainly a nice reward for the team to be recognised for their outstanding achievements over the past months of work," he said. "They’ve been in the trenches day in day out and going at a hundred miles an hour because of their passion to achieve, so it’s a great way to thank them.”
Steve Lambley, from Cunninghams Property in Balgowlah, Sydney, also walked away with two awards, including Agent Achiever.
“To win the Agent Achiever award is something that is just a great acknowledgment of our accomplishments we’ve had in the last 12 months,” Mr Lambley told Real Estate Business on the night.
“The year before last my business dropped 35 per cent, last year it grew by 76 per cent. The reason for that was a personal life event with my family in 2011. So last year I knew I had to do something fundamentally different to get back on track again, and it was just a matter of laser focus and applying all the skills we knew we had to create that business.
“It’s a great encouragement to have something like this to acknowledge our work,” he said.
Michael Sheargold, head of the RERN Group, which finished eighth in the Real Estate Business Top 20 Real Estate Groups ranking, said that the results of the independent agencies were a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of small business owners through various market conditions.
“The awards are contested by the nation’s best of the best independent agencies and performers and again we were impressed by the high level of competence and quality shown by agencies and the people behind the brands,” he said.
