A new women’s-only online forum has emerged after its founders claimed there was a need for a forum in what remains a male-dominated industry.

The group, ‘Women in Real Estate’, is run by several prominent industry women including Sydney agent Claudine Gibson, property investment specialist Jane Slack-Smith, and Lisa Goodwin from Smart Tours Property Videos.

“Real estate has historically been a male dominated industry,” claimed Ms Goodwin.

“But these days so many women are building careers in real estate that issues for our gender need a forum for discussion. We’re also pro-actively building wealth through property rather than leaving that all up to the men, as in previous generations, so the group is a great way for women to access support and interaction.”

The group is featured on new social media site Housenet, which is open to both genders. However, Women in Real Estate is closed to men.

“I love the opportunity to learn from inspiring women who’ve enjoyed success in the industry,” Ms Goodwin said.

Jane Slack-Smith of Your Property Success feels the Women in Real Estate group offers something other mixed-gender groups can’t.

“It’s a safe place to ask the silly questions for newbies and not to be heckled, judged or somehow marked. We do things differently and genuinely want to support women in the real estate profession

“To women in the industry, I‘d say this forum is the place to learn and grow from others who may have experienced and conquered the opportunity you are now facing. It’s also fun! Come and join us.”
