Melbourne is set to host the fifth annual Open House Melbourne event, which will see a record number of buildings opened up for the public to inspect over two days.
According to spokesman Robert Larocca, from the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV), over a hundred thousand viewings will take place over a weekend which attracts thousands of Australians.
“In just five years, Open House Melbourne has grown from a small program of eight buildings open for one day to 100 buildings with over 135,000 visits, making it a key event on Melbourne’s major event calendar," he said.
“Every year tens of thousands of people visit the city from across Victoria and interstate to take advantage of this once a year opportunity to see inside, under and on top of Melbourne's most loved, or hidden architectural gems. And it’s all for free.
“In 2013, the range of buildings and activities will include places of worship, museums, underground tunnels, creative workspaces, contemporary architecture, television studies, as well as educational activities for kids.
“We have some special opportunities this year which, along with the list of participating buildings, will be released in the coming months.”
Mr Larocca said the event is the perfect opportunity for people to fall in love with the city.
