Realestate.com.au’s app has exceeded two million downloads, making it one of the most popular property apps for Australians.

Since its launch in December 2010 the app for iPhone, iPad and Android has averaged more than 71,000 downloads a month.

Henry Ruiz, REA Group’s chief product officer said the app’s popularity is due to its user friendliness across multiple devices, in any location, at any time of the day.

“Our app is the ultimate online preview of a property, especially with its big, beautiful pictures," he said.

"You can search wherever you are and however you choose. It makes searching for property an even more enjoyable experience.”

Mr Ruiz added that features such as being able to sync saved properties between devices intended to enhance the search experience.

Last year the app won the Mobile Innovation award for Australia’s Best Mobile Expanded Service or Application at the 2012 Australian Mobile Awards.

Mr Ruiz hoped that real estate agents would embrace advertising on the app.

“Agents who advertise with us are now able to stand out as local market leaders across our iPhone app, mobile site and desktop, which will help them win and move listings and build their rent roll,” he said.

“In addition, upgraded listings now stand out in bigger ads across our iPhone app, mobile site and desktop, delivering even more value to our customers.”
