As LJ Hooker expands to 37 offices in Australia’s west, the company announces the appointment of auction specialist Ken Preston as regional manager for Western Australia.

Mr Preston, who has over 23 years of experience, takes over from Brian Reid who is returning to the east coast of Australia.

Chris Mourd, LJ Hooker head of network, said Mr Preston’s background, especially his advocacy and expert knowledge of the auction process, positioned him well for the role.

“Ken has a strong belief in the benefits of the auction process,  which aligns with LJ Hooker’s nationwide approach to achieving the best result for our customers,’’ Mr Mourd said.

“Ken’s knowledge of the Western Australian market and his leadership style has LJ Hooker’s executives confident of continued growth in the state.

“Ken joins the state team at its strongest point, thanks largely to Brian’s development and servicing of the franchises over the past two years.’’

Mr Preston entered real estate in 1998. But prior to real estate, he began his professional life in the building industry in 1990, seeding his deep understanding and passion for property.

From the building sector, he moved into property development, working in sales and marketing for the Smith Corporation and then the ABN Group.

“The housing industry at the time was exceptionally competitive, with land developers producing large-scale developments north and south of the river,’’ said Mr Preston.

“Perth was undergoing tremendous transformation; Mindarie was only accessible by 4WD while, south of the river, Beeliar and Atwell were virtually unheard of. The importance of sales and marketing in Perth really came to the fore during that period.”
