A group of young real estate professionals has teamed up to create a new networking group.

The group, Young Real Estate Professionals (YREP), will be open to all property managers and agents in NSW, no matter what brand they work for.

According to co-organiser, Rob Forde, CEO of Harcourts Corporate NSW, the networking group is a long overdue opportunity for young professionals.

“The real estate industry is an over $9 billion industry and as you look at the demographic of the agents coming through the ranks, you can see all the opportunities there are for leadership and management roles,” Mr Forde told Real Estate Business, the event's media partner.

“One of the reasons we’ve got quite a good spread of groups organising this is because traditionally there have been a lot of individually-focused type groups. We want to make sure that we are focused on what’s going on in the bigger picture. It doesn’t matter what group, network or company you work for.”

Stephanie Campbell, who heads up the property management division at LJ Hooker Potts Point, said the event was not only a chance for agents and property managers to network but an opportunity to learn from one another.

“I think it is a great opportunity to connect with other people in the industry that one day may be able to help explain something that you don’t fully understand,” she told Real Estate Business.

While Eddy Piddington, sales executive at Cunninghams Property, who has been in the industry for just under a decade, said he wished there were events like YREP when he first began in the industry.

“There really wasn’t any events like this when I started out, especially geared towards young people. There are sales events that you can go and learn but not specifically networking opportunities,” he told Real Estate Business.

“This event is going to be really excited, especially as it is opened to anyone.”

The group will be a fantastic opportunity for young, driven professionals to share ideas and network in a fun environment, Mr Forde added.

“We want to create an event that isn’t just real estate specific but looks at the bigger picture, so we will be inviting speakers from both in and out of the industry. We can learn from those who have been successful in many other areas of business,” he said.

The first YREP networking event will take place on Thursday, June 13 at Verandah Bar and restaurant in Sydney’s CBD.

Complimentary drinks and canapés will be served. For more information visit YREP.
