A 36 year-old agent has become the youngest chairman of First National Real Estate’s new board of directors.
Mark Millington, managing director of First National Lakeshores at Mannering Park, was elected to the coveted position at the network’s special gala evening at Hamilton Island last Thursday.
“Real estate is not about age so much as it is about people and, like any industry, it needs to change with the times if it is going to grow and prosper,” Mr Millington said.
“When we sold our first property through Facebook in 2011, some people said this was just a fad.
“But our focus at this year’s convention is on the use of social media as a driving force in real estate, so it is clearly here to stay in whichever form it takes.”
According to First National, Mr Millington has helped turn his agency into a successful business in the area with substantial market share in sales and property management.
The third generation real estate agent was elected chairman of First National’s NSW Regional Council as well as deputy chairman of the network in 2011.
Retiring chairman Russell Burton said he was thrilled by Mr Millington's appointment.
“First National is an independent network where every member can have a say in how the network is run,” he said.
“Mark has been a great support to me in his role as deputy chairman and I think he will bring a new set of ideas and focus to this network as it grows across Australasia and the South Pacific.”
