Harcourts New South Wales’ CEO will endure painfully low temperatures when he sleeps outside to raise money for charity.

Rob Forde will join more than 1,000 business leaders in the 2013 Vinnies CEO Sleepout at Carriageworks in Sydney on 20 June.

The annual event seeks to engage CEOs in raising awareness and funds for Vinnies to support people experiencing homelessness.

“I just felt, being in the position that I’m in, I’m fortunate in that this has created an opportunity for me to be able to give back,” Mr Forde told Real Estate Business.

“I think it’s great the number of CEOs that have applied for it - it’s terrific. People are willing to get out of their comfort zones and spend the night on the streets, and I think it will give some great insights into some of the difficulties that a lot of people who find themselves in this position have to go through on a daily basis.”

According to St Vincent de Paul Society, more than 100,000 Australians find themselves homeless each night of the year.

Since its inception in 2006, the charity’s Sleepout has raised over $13 million in funds for Vinnies Homeless Services across NSW and nationally.

Last year, over 1,000 CEOs from around Australia slept out in support of the charity.
