Barry Plant's Melbourne South Eastern Group offices recorded a 100 per cent clearance rate on auctions held last weekend.

The group, which includes offices in Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Oakleigh and Wheelers Hill, celebrated positive results on all auctions in the Carnegie and Chadstone/Malvern East areas held last weekend.

Sam Rosello, director of Barry Plant Wheelers Hill, said the outstanding result was achieved following an "exciting" auction at 11 Camira Street in Malvern East.

"This property sold for $345,000 above reserve, and scored a record result for the area per square metre of land,” he said.

"An optimistic purchaser started the auction off at $900,000, and after a vendor bid at $1.1 million, the buyers took control of the auction, which slowly crept to $1,410,000. After consultation with the vendor, the property was put on the market to be sold and four buyers fought it out for an unbelievable sale of $1,755,000.

"This was a great result for the vendors, who had lived in the property for 30 years."

Other properties that sold under the hammer included:

  •     2 Elwood Street, Notting Hill sold for $705,000, $85,000 above reserve
  •     2/48 Glencairn Street, Mulgrave sold for $555,000, $55,000 above reserve
  •     89 Leicester Avenue, Glen Waverley sold for $640,000
  •     5 Rosstown Road, Carnegie sold for $860,000 with four bidders
  •     25 Doynton Parade, Mount Waverley sold for $865,000

Barry Plant Group CEO Mike McCarthy congratulated the Melbourne South East on a sensational result and said it highlighted the increasing strength in the recovery of the Victorian property market.
