While principals across Australia complain of a skills shortage in the real estate industry, one Western Australia-based real estate group has recorded its most successful recruitment campaign in the last six months.
Peard Real Estate Group, an independent non-franchise real estate company, has successful recruited 32 new sales staff over the last six months, completing a campaign that Melissa Farrell, business resource manager for Peard, considers to be the most successful in the history of the company.
According to Ms Farrell, the 32 new staff members are a combination of people who have either moved from other industries or other real estate companies.
“All of these people are highly motivated and have joined our company because of our strong brand image and focus on customer service,” she said.
“Peard Real Estate is also attracting new staff in large numbers because of the strong track record we have established in Perth."
Ms Farrell believes the great recruitment results were spurred on by Peard Real Estate's recent award win at the Australian Business Awards.
“Our employment credentials were recently recognised on a national basis when Peard Real Estate won the Australian Business Award for Recommended Employer – the second time the company has won this prestigious award,” she said.
According to Maree Overton, managing director at Peard Real Estate Group, the firm's human resources department plays a key role in providing ongoing support and training to staff members.
“Peard Real Estate has invested heavily over recent years in the area of personnel management to ensure that new staff become top achievers in the WA property market. This is why our offices achieve very high sales volumes on a consistent basis compared to the industry average,” she said.
“As a result of this strong support, over 40 per cent of our staff have been with Peard Real Estate for more than three years and eight per cent have been with the company over 10 years, which is a massive achievement and testament to our company values and culture.
“Looking to the future, our company is looking to expand staff numbers further by recruiting other highly motivated people over the coming months.”
Ms Overton said by the end of 2013, the company plans to have a total sales team of more than 160 across its Perth branch network.
“The success of the Peard brand has been based on providing our clients with a very high level of customer service and we want to hear from people who believe they can share the same corporate values as our company and have the ambition to become top achievers in the real estate industry," she said.
