Top agents were recognised at the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW) Awards for Excellence last week.

The annual gala dinner held at Sydney’s Doltone House last Thursday awarded agents across 18 categories, including residential sales, commercial leasing, property management and auctioneering.

REINSW president Christian Payne said: “Our award winners highlight the broad range of skills the industry grows and cultivates. REINSW is excited by the great pool of talent, which highlights our diversity, work ethic and dedication to the real estate profession.

“The Awards for Excellence are a vital part of ensuring that our industry champions are celebrated and recognised for their achievements. They are dedicated to creating positive outcomes for their clients and play a vital role in the community.”

Director of Cooley Auctions Damien Cooley was awarded the John Greig OAM Community Service award for his contribution to his community.

He told Real Estate Business he was absolutely thrilled to win the award.

“However, I will also say everybody who was nominated is just as deserving of this award,” he said.

“Anyone who takes the time to give back to the community really does deserve a lot of recognition, but generally it’s not about recognition, it’s about what more can we do to help people.”

Amongst Mr Cooley’s various charity work is the annual Cooley Gold Classic fundraising event, which has raised over $200,000 in five years, as well as his role as a member of the Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Street development committee.

“The best part of being involved in Youth Off The Street and being involved in charity is being able to give back to the community," he said.

“It’s very easy to take things for granted. I use my position as an auctioneer and my position within the real estate industry to my advantage to help out people who are less fortunate.”

Morton & Morton won the award for Online Presence and was named Reisdential Agency of the Year - Large for the the fourth year running.

“We are really excited about it and we feel very privileged,” managing director Ewan Morton said.

He attributed the agency’s success to consistency.

“We just try to be consistent in everything that we do - the service that we offer our clients and having a continual process of getting better and better at what we do,” he said.

Both Mr Cooley and Mr Morton were winners at the recent Australian Real Estate Awards being named Auctioneer of the Year and Industry Thought Leader respectively.
