Every Friday, we will feature a story from an agent on the ground. This week’s story comes from Sue Budding from Raine&Horne Maida Vale & Hills.
“When I was in my first year of real estate, I did an appraisal on a property and in those days we used to measure a property or use plans to work out a rebuild, so I asked the homeowner if they had plans of the property.
She was a little reluctant to give them to me, but I assured her that I would copy them and return them at 5 that afternoon.
I promptly arrived at the house at 5. The owner had a short, but steep drive, so I parked by the kerb, left the engine running and ran to the front door. As expected, she was waiting for me and took the plans, and I said I would get back to her with figures the next day.
I said goodbye, ran down the drive and jumped in the car. I sat there for a minute or two and thought 'why aren’t we moving?' OMG! I had jumped into the passenger seat and even moved my handbag off the seat to sit down and was waiting for my hubby to drive off!
I felt like such a fool and thought everyone in the street must be watching as I gingerly got out of the passenger side and into the driver’s seat and drove off with the reddest face ever, but then I had a fit of the giggles and laughed all the way home.
My husband thought it was absolutely hilarious when I told him, he could just picture me sitting there waiting to go with no driver in the seat!”
