The former number one real estate agent for the McGrath network has left to head up a new franchise in Sydney’s north shore.

McGrath Northbridge’s star agent, John McManus, announced yesterday that he is the new franchise owner of LJ Hooker Artarmon.

“LJ Hooker has an excellent reputation in the marketplace, supported by a strong head office,” Mr McManus said.

As a 20-year local of the Sydney north shore, Mr McManus made it from rookie to the number one selling agent in 2010/2011 after just five years with the McGrath Group.

“I like to make people happy,” Mr McManus said. “It gives me great satisfaction to see people with smiles on their faces, and a lot of vendors and buyers have since become friends.

“I meet everyone personally and ensure each home is strategically styled and marketed to reach the vendors desired outcome.”

Speaking about the move, the former pro-golfer claimed the LJ Hooker brand was an integral part of the real estate industry.

“It is a heritage Australian brand that people have grown up with and as such, LJ Hooker is sought out by savvy investors and mums and dads looking to sell and buy in pursuit of their dream home,” he said.

Christopher Mourd, LJ Hooker head of residential, said the group could only benefit from having someone of Mr McManus’ ability and solid reputation join the business.

“John himself is an asset,” Mr Mourd said. “He has an outstanding record of sales in the north shore and I have no doubt with the LJ Hooker brand he will continue to be a leading agent in the area.

“I know he’s going to continue setting new benchmarks in real estate which, ultimately, is for the benefit of his clients.”
