Hobart and Melbourne top the list for family-friendly living, according to a report by Aussie Home Loans and RP Data.
Kingston, just south of Hobart, came first in the Top 100 Suburbs for Family Living report, while Lauderdale, to the east of Hobart, came third.
According to the latest RP Data figures, median house prices in Kingston sit at just $352,500, while the unit market is slightly more affordable at $255,000.
Lauderdale had a similar median house price to Kingston, sitting at $351,500.
Melbourne had three suburbs in the top 10: Taylors Lakes (fifth), Diamond Creek (eighth) and Cockatoo (10th).
The Top 100 list rated about 3,800 suburbs on a range of factors, including house prices, block size, average number of bedrooms, historical capital gains and proximity to local amenities.
Melbourne had the most entries in the top 100, with 30, while Brisbane had 22, Sydney had 21, Adelaide had 12, Hobart had nine, Perth had four and Darwin had one.
