LJ Hooker has announced the appointment of its new CEO for Australian and international networks, to replace Georg Chmiel.

Business services specialist and former CEO and managing director of Corporate Express Australia and ASX-listed Salmat Grant Harrod has been appointed to the position.

Chairman of LJ Hooker Greg Paramor said the board undertook a six-month selection process, and that Mr Harrod’s extensive executive leadership experience was perfect for the role.

“We’re pleased to have found a CEO of Grant’s calibre,” Mr Paramor said.

“We’re impressed with Grant’s comprehension of the changing real estate marketplace, and his vision for LJ Hooker aligns with our current network growth and market innovations.

“Grant’s extensive background in business services and solutions ensures our network of 700 offices will continue to enjoy the tools and support for the retention and expansion of their market profiles.

“I’m confident Grant will bring an enthusiasm and leadership to LJ Hooker which will herald a new and successful era for the company.’’

Mr Harrod fills the role vacated by Georg Chmiel, who remains a non-executive board member of LJ Hooker.

Mr Harrod said he was thrilled at the opportunity to join one of Australia’s largest networks.

“LJ Hooker has developed unrivalled brand awareness and offerings to both the network and consumers,” Mr Harrod said.

“But, importantly for a company of its age, it still advocates the values of integrity, respect and courage on which it was formed.

“The real estate market is at a pivotal moment in its cycle. I look forward to working with my fellow executives and the business more widely to ensure LJ Hooker continues to be the real estate brand of choice.”
