After selling almost one property every two days on his own, one of the country’s hardest working agents has finally hired some help – and the results speak for themselves.
Principal at LJ Hooker Lithgow Jamie Giokaris was ranked 100th in last year’s Real Estate Business Top 100 Agents, despite selling more property than anyone else.
However, with an average sale price of just $225,000, his relatively low overall sales volume severely impacted his ranking.
But extraordinarily, Mr Giokaris managed this feat without any PAs or assistants.
“I rise at about 5:30am and work six days a week,” he told Real Estate Business last year. “But my biggest challenge is time management, and looking forward I’d like to restructure my business to take some time off to spend with my family.”
Twelve months on, and Mr Giokaris has since hired an assistant to help manage the workload.
“Last year I recruited a salesperson who acts as a buyer's advocate. She helps look after the buyers four days a week," he said.
“It always was a challenge time-wise. In the last month I’ve employed a young guy to help me through that process. He’s only working three days a week at the moment, but he’s my personal assistant.
“I never was a fan of the concept of a PA, but I can certainly see the benefits of having one - even over just a couple of months.”
While his assistant organises his day and deals with buyers, Mr Giokaris said he is still very active in the selling process.
“I’m still the one dealing with the vendors and keeping the activity reports and regular phone calls up, because that’s vitally important,” he said.
With his PA taking increasing his role as time goes on, Mr Giokaris said he could hopefully ease off the throttle.
“This year I hope to cut back on the time I’m putting in and spend more time with the family, as well as looking at succession planning not too far down the track," he said.
“The figures I’ll be submitting for this year’s rankings won’t be affected by having a PA, but next year we’ll see how much it has helped, and hopefully we can crack the 200 sold properties mark by then!”
