A 32 year-old real estate agent has been refused bail after being charged with the alleged rape and false imprisonment of a woman in a vacant Melbourne property last month.

The Herald Sun has reported that sales agent Henry Jiang appeared before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with five counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, false imprisonment, and theft.

He is accused of raping the 35 year-old woman at the property in Doncaster East on Leeds Street around 3am on 2 April 2014.

The Herald Sun report stated that Magistrate Charlie Rozencwajg said the strong prosecution case alleging torture and brutality was “extremely disturbing and shocking” and that Mr Jiang was an unacceptable risk of further offending.

Police have not revealed if he was known to his alleged victim.
