With consumers’ expectations constantly rising, the Real Estate Institute of Victoria’s (REIV) upcoming annual conference promises to provide insight into how to remain at the forefront of the real estate industry.
Held over August 5 and 6 at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne, it will feature some of the best minds in the business.
First National Real Estate general manager Rik Rushton classifies himself as a “seminar junkie”, both speaking at and attending numerous REIV conferences.
“I think for anybody that is a professional in the business, if you are not constantly learning then what are you doing?” he told Real Estate Business.
“I think the industry now compels us to do that, not so much because an Institute like ours says you have to train, it is really more consumers expect a far higher level of competency, and a higher level of professionalism,” he added.
Mr Rushton explains his session is all about how agents can fight for a listing on value instead of needing to discount their fee.
Also speaking to Real Estate Business, Ray White Croydon owner and principal Tamara Lloyd said one of the reasons she is involved in REIV is to give women more of a profile within the real estate industry.
“I am actually speaking with Traci Stella and we are doing a question and answer, and we have headed it ‘How to get to the top and stay at the top’,” she said.
“I think it will give [people] an insight into having a career with longevity and how to achieve that.”
“There will be things that come out that will be useful for people who are new to the industry, as being a principal I am often dealing with people that are new and training them,” she added.
