A huge crowd of over 750 celebrated the winners of the 2014 Real Estate Business Awards at The Star Event Centre in Sydney last night.

The nation’s best real estate agents were all in attendance on the biggest night of the year for the real estate industry in Australia.

The Real Estate Business Awards, now in its second year and partnered by real estate portal Domain, recognises the cream of Australia’s residential real estate industry, identifying the best agents, principals and real estate offices, plus the innovators and pioneers driving the development of the industry.

Among the winners was Ewan Morton from Sydney-based agency Morton & Morton, who received the major award of the evening, the Real Estate Business Excellence Award.

This coveted award acknowledges the best performer across all individual categories of the Real Estate Business Awards.

According to Phillip Tarrant, director of Sterling Publishing – which hosted the awards – securing the Real Estate Business Excellence Award is a milestone that elevates an agent and their business to new heights.

“In winning this award, Ewan Morton has affirmed his place as the nation’s top real estate agent. He epitomises professionalism in real estate and is regarded by his peers for his passion and energy, and these elevate the industry,” Mr Tarrant said.

Mr Morton also received the award for Industry Thought Leader.

Winners of other major awards included Tim Foote from Belle Property for Metropolitan Sales Agent of the Year, and Cathy Baker from Gittoes for Regional Sales Agent of the Year.

ACTON Mandurah secured the award for Regional Sales Office of the Year, while Strathfield Partners was named Metropolitan Sales Office of the Year.

With over 800 initial nominations for the Real Estate Business Awards, 210 submissions and 150 awards finalists from 95 different companies, the awards represent a true cross-section of the industry.

Matt Siddons, marketing director at Domain, said "hats off to Real Estate Business for a great night and congratulations to all the very worthy winners".

"There is no doubt that the Real Estate Business Awards are the preeminent industry awards nationally. Domain is delighted to be associated with this great platform for insightstosuccess.com.au and we are already looking forward to next year," said Mr Siddons.

Tom Sullivan, publisher of Real Estate Business, said he’s already looking forward to an even bigger event next year.

“Last night was a wonderful celebration of all the success over the past year. It’s been great seeing the industry do so well after a few lean years, so to take the time out to recognise the best of the best was most welcome,” said Mr Sullivan.
