The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales is looking for industry comment on how best to lift education standards, tackle incoming regulatory challenges and manage the various listings portals.

REINSW is hosting an Industry Summit on 27 November in an attempt to provide an open environment for industry figures to voice their opinions on the critical issues and trends affecting the industry and its professions.

After a successful event in 2013, REINSW deputy president John Cunningham said the 2014 summit will build on last year’s efforts.

“Our first Industry Summit last year was a successful event. We had over 60 industry representatives attend the summit and they all provided practical information towards improving the industry,” Mr Cunningham said.

“From the representatives’ discussions on the day, we received four very clear directives on which way we needed to move during the next 12 months, and I'm very pleased to say REINSW achieved a lot of them."

To determine the topics for the 2014 Industry Summit, REINSW sent out a survey to members asking them to provide information on issues they would like to see discussed at the summit.

“Issues that were important 12 months ago are of course important this year. However, there are some increased challenges to add to the list. So this year we have outlined six primary objectives,” Mr Cunningham said.

One of the topics that will be open for debate is the property manager versus tenancy manager label, and where risk and responsibility should start and finish.
