One state has taken the lead as the nation’s best market for property sellers, according to the latest report from a national property website.
Realestate.com.au’s ‘Top Sellers’ Markets’ report reveals the 10 hottest Australian suburbs as judged by the number of people looking per listing, with South Australia taking the top spot.
Realestate.com.au said the performance of SA's suburbs since last quarter shows the state’s growing popularity.
The number of New South Wales suburbs appearing on the September-November list has halved compared to June-August, when six suburbs from the state featured on the list.
Continuing to hold the title of the “Hottest suburb in Australia”, Parkside, south east of Adelaide's CBD, has now topped the list seven times over the past 11 quarters, according to realestate.com.au.
Parkside and Norwood in SA, and Cherrybrook in NSW, have all featured in 'Top Sellers’ Markets' lists since last year.
John Williams, principal at Harcourts Brock Williams in Adelaide, said the prevalence of well-priced character homes adds to Parkside’s ongoing appeal.
“South Australians love their character homes, and there are plenty in Parkside which are really affordable. Along with compact villas and cottages, the character-style home is quite unique to South Australia. You don’t really see this in other states, which is why properties in South Australia are consistently in high demand,” he said.
