A new school zone feature from Domain could help agents justify higher prices to potential buyers.

Domain School Zone allows parents to see whether their desired property falls within the catchment zones of particular schools.

The type of school is also shown, allowing parents to see if it is a primary, secondary or co-ed school, for example.

Properties can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars more if they fall within the boundary of a high-performing school, according to Domain.

Domain executive editor Stephen Nicholls said Domain School Zone represents a major change for buyers and sellers.

“Agents say the difference between one side of the street and the other can be 10 per cent based purely on schooling – and much more than 10 per cent if buyers are fighting over specific properties at auction,” he said.

This new search feature can be accessed via the Domain website or apps.
