One of the industry’s leading trainers has capitalised on his database by setting up a staff placement business.
Real Estate Results Network has launched RER People, which will place staff and provide continuing support to candidates and agencies.
Chief executive Michael Sheargold said the business will also offer agencies support with recruitment strategies, interview techniques and payment structures.
RER People will also scour the market to headhunt agents, sales managers, department heads and other real estate staff.
Mr Sheargold told Real Estate Business he didn’t expect negative consequences from the company’s diversified model, which could potentially result in the recruitment business poaching staff from a training client.
“With our understanding of real estate, our years of training, coaching and bringing out the best in the people we work with, we see this as an advantage to our members and we don’t think that this will affect our training event business,” he said.
“We will still train and coach many of the industry’s top performers, emerging talent and new recruits.”
RER People has launched operations from Sydney, but plans to move into Melbourne and Brisbane over coming months and later into Western Australia and South Australia.
The company plans to recruit experienced and inexperienced real estate professionals, as well as non-industry people with a background in sales or hospitality.
Mr Sheargold said the launch of RER People partly reflected the bad experiences some network members had had with recruitment companies.
“We saw the natural progression into human resources as part of the network to help provide agencies with the best people, as we believe finding the right people is one of the most important parts of business growth.”
Mr Sheargold also told Real Estate Business there was no risk that running two businesses would prove a distraction.
“We see adding different services to our already established real estate business as an advantage to the industry,” he said.
“We understand what it takes to be a great principal and agent and we understand the fit of a new person in an organisation.”
