News Corp Australasia’s executive chairman has been appointed to the board of REA Group.
Michael Miller will start his role after REA Group’s AGM on 12 November.
He will join the board as the nominee of News Corp, REA Group’s majority shareholder.
Mr Miller has been in his current role since August and previously served a two-year stint as chief executive of APN News & Media.
REA Group chairman Hamish McLennan said he was delighted to welcome Mr Miller to the company.
“His extensive media and management experience will be an asset to the board role, and we look forward to working with him as we continue to drive the growth of our business,” he said.
Mr Miller will replace another News Corp appointee, William Lewis, who joined the board in November 2013.
Mr Lewis is publisher of the Wall Street Journal and has resigned due to the increased commitment required to manage the paper’s international expansion.
His commercial and financial acumen has provided great value to REA Group, according to Mr McLennan.
“We are grateful for the significant contribution Will has made to our business over this time and wish him well in his new ventures,” he said.
Mr Lewis will leave the board on 12 November.
