The real estate business has donated thousands of dollars’ worth of food to the Salvation Army as part of this year’s Christmas hamper drive.
Over the past month, the Coronis team, alongside their clients, have been collecting a large amount of Christmas food and pantry staples to share the holiday cheer to those in need through the Salvation Army.
Property management director Jodi Ford said 2020 has been especially challenging for a number of people within the community.
“It is my understanding that the Salvation Army is experiencing higher demand than ever before. Therefore, supporting their Christmas Food Appeal seemed like the perfect idea to further serve our community,” Ms Ford explained.
“Each year, we believe it is important to give back and support the community that supports our business.”
Ms Ford expressed the hope that the food that has been donated will make a meaningful difference to many families on Christmas Day: “Enabling them to create a special meal for their loved ones who might not have been able to financially afford it otherwise due to hardships caused by the bushfires, floods or COVID-19 this year.”
According to Salvation Army Commanding Officer Brendan Nottle, the work of the Salvation Army is not simply to gift people with toys or meals — “it’s about giving people Christmas”.
He highlighted that over Christmas, the organisation expects about half a million people across the nation needing help with toys and gifts as well as more practical things like meals.
Mr Nottle has acknowledged that people may not be in a position to give what they could give previously, “but whatever they can give would be deeply appreciated”.
“Everyone deserves to enjoy Christmas Day, so if you’re in a position to, I encourage everyone to reach out to a local charity and support the amazing and generous work they do in helping our community through the festive season,” Ms Ford concluded.
