It’s a pleasure to introduce Adam Nobel, a finalist in the Innovator of the Year - Individual category at the upcoming REB Awards 2024, with the awards to be held at Sydney’s The Star on 29 February 2024.
REB is proud to showcase a number of finalists in the upcoming REB Awards 2024 in this special Q&A series.
Here, we chat with Hugo Alexander Property Group CEO and principal, Adam Nobel.
Adam, congratulations on being named a finalist in the innovator of the year - individual category for the Real Estate Business Awards 2024. How does it feel to be recognised as a finalist?
Thank you. It’s a wonderful a feeling to receive recognition for the significant results our team have achieved for our clients and customers.
Most of our clients are very experienced property people who recognise the difference in what we offer, and they are benefiting from all the added value services that we offer at no extra cost.
Throughout the year our clients received previously unheard-of record sales prices and record rental prices.
This award acknowledges the outcomes our clients received through our unique selling and property management process.
We are so appreciative of our clients for choosing us to take proper care of them and we are very grateful to the judges at the REB for acknowledging the work we do to get these results.
Tell us a little bit about your business?
We are an industry-leading Brisbane property management, sales and buyers’ agency. We’ve negotiated over $45,000,000 above our clients’ asking price for rent and sale.
Our seller clients have benefitted from our team’s 99% sales success rate since 2007.
Our investor clients regularly earn 5-20% higher rental income and increase their properties’ capital value year-on-year.
Our buyer clients get it right the first time with secure investments for accelerated growth.
We are located centrally in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, which allows us to service all of Brisbane.
Why is innovation so important to you?
Innovation is important to me because of the genuine joy I feel when I have had a remarkable experience when buying a product or service.
Whether it's a restaurant or hotel experience, buying clothing, or seeing your investment property managed better then ever before, to me it's all the little things from start to finish that show how much the CEO or owner of the business cares. And it also demonstrates how well they have trained their team.
Innovation of service delivery and client outcomes are everything to us.
So, how do you embed innovative practices into your everyday work?
As a business we exist to help our clients grow their wealth faster. Everything we do is with this in mind. We are constantly in research mode and refining and developing our process and strategies to be able to offer our clients more than our competition. This is essential to ensure our clients always have the advantage when competing with other properties for sale or rent.
We embed innovative practices by asking each other, what can we do more of, or even better, to help our clients and customers have a remarkable experience with us? We also ask if there is anything we need to change to adjust to a client’s specific needs, or to a changing environment.
We ask these questions on a weekly basis through structured meetings and on daily basis through one-on-one stand-up meetings.
We have the very best mentors, coaches and trainers from inside and outside the industry for weekly training. We also constantly read and listen to business books by world leading authorities on client experience, digital marketing, and sales and property management.
Does innovation require a specific mindset, in your opinion?
It most certainly does. Our company values at Hugo Alexander Property Group are Care, Transparency and Growth. For innovation to take place we believe you have to deeply care about providing a better experience for your clients, customers and staff, and you must have a growth mindset.
Having an environment that celebrates learning, evolving, and agility is also how we have been first to market with technologies that produce industry leading results for our clients.
Our agility allows us to pivot quickly at any time.
Because we are not tied to a franchise model, we are able to move rapidly and are free to select the very best digital marketing specialists, photographers, or auctioneer. We are not tied to an employee of a franchise when there are better people in the open market that can provide far better results for our clients.
This flexible and agile mindset and company structure of working with only the best people led to us conducting the first live online auction in Australia with Google Rooms (now Google Meet), within days of Covid lockdowns taking place. And we were the first Property Management company nationally to create a proactive 10-year plan for landlords. Both innovations have been recognised and awarded with the most prestigious state, national, and global awards.
What can we expect from yourself in the year ahead?
We expect that 2024 will be another excellent year for all our clients. We will continue to find extraordinarily high performing assets for our investor clients and help all our landlords to continue increasing their profitability.
Last year nearly every one of our sales was a record sale for our clients in their street or suburb. We aim to produce more of the same record sales in 2024.
In exciting news, we have just completed the fit out of our brand-new headquarters in Fortitude Valley and this in itself is an innovative workspace for our biggest asset – our staff. Here every desk is a sit-stand desk, we have the very best ergonomic chairs, multiple break out areas, high quality coffee machine and kitchen, quiet rooms, rooms for children of staff, and places of comfort, all to further our ability to continue to innovate and evolve for our clients and industry.
Best of luck at the REB Awards 2024!
