The former growth manager of the Coronis Group has revealed her next career move: a brand new Burleigh Heads business.
Fiona Nichols is behind The Property Associates, a Gold Coast-based business that specialises in property management.
“When the opportunity arose to purchase the agency, it was perfect timing for me,” she shared.
“I was looking for a new challenge that I could sink my teeth into and have complete control over the business decisions and direction.”
The business bought by Ms Nichols, which was formerly known as Realty Power, has a more than 30-year history.
“The previous owner built a great portfolio and really wanted to pass the baton onto another woman with a strong property management focus who would continue to offer a bespoke service to the local community,” she said.
She has revealed that “as a kid in the country, I always wanted a career in property management”.
“I never saw it as the poor cousin to sales — so to now own my own property management agency is a dream come true, especially here in Burleigh Heads, which has, in my opinion, one of the best beaches and local communities in the world,” said Ms Nichols.
With big plans for the future of The Property Associates, Ms Nichols said that having worked with a variety of teams and companies of all shapes and sizes, she feels “well positioned to take all those learnings and help transform The Property Associates eventually into a full-service agency, so that no matter what our clients need, we will be able to help them”.
In the short term, she’s “now looking at bringing on another team member to start in January and then expand the team further throughout 2023”.
Even with her lofty goals, Ms Nichols said she’s “not looking to become the next huge thing”.
“I want to focus on long-term client relationships and trust so that when it comes to any real estate transaction, our clients will come to us because they already know and trust [us],” she stated.
“The Gold Coast market is one of the most in-demand cities in Australia at the moment with a 0.8 per cent vacancy rate, according to SQM Research, so it’s an incredible time to establish ourselves and offer a fresh, young approach.”
While only trading for a little over a month, the director said that she’d been blown away by the support she’s already received.
“We’ve had great feedback from our existing clients on the new brand and approach to business, plus 12 new landlords have signed with us in addition to two sales, so we’re well ahead of target for this point in time,” Ms Nichols said.
