One of Australia’s biggest real estate groups has revealed that the number of employees in its property management division is up by almost 70 per cent on 2021 figures.

LJ Hooker Group has said property management continues to be a key focus for LJ Hooker offices across the country, which has been seen as a key contributor to the figure growth.

According to the network’s general manager, Stephen Mutton, specialist coaches within the corporate team are currently helping to nurture the next generation of professionals “in this growing and important sector”.

“The rental market is such a big part of the Australian real estate economy,” he acknowledged.

“We need to ensure that our property managers are constantly upskilling and can access the support they need.”

It flies in the face of the survey finding from early 2022, which said almost one in four property managers intended to leave the profession.

The boost is above the general intake of real estate professionals at the LJ Hooker network, which still sits at a whopping 60 per cent over the past 12 months.

All up, 1,010 individuals joined the group over the year-long period, with property management pioneering the way, followed by sales and support teams.

It also recorded a 21 per cent increase in the number of new franchise owners over the 2022 calendar year.

Mr Mutton pointed to the “laser-focused” approach to growth taken by the business as being another reason for its recent success, highlighting the recruitment of new offices and the assistance given to existing offices to achieve growth through recruitment, rent roll purchases, and mergers and acquisitions, even in challenging and changing market conditions.

He also illuminated a focus on innovation, which includes investments in digital marketing and technological capabilities, as well as the development of an online training platform, Lighthouse, which provides additional support and training for staff.

Mr Mutton’s comments follow LJ Hooker Group CEO Christine Mikhael’s reveal of the strategy that would lead the network to its centenary and continued growth.

She also revealed more details about this approach to growth on a recent REB podcast. Click here to listen.
