What would your agency look like?

Ever find yourself in the weekly sales meeting pondering what you’d do differently? How would you lead this team, market this property, create a real estate brand and showcase its point of difference to the world?

What business vision would you bring to life, what ethos would you espouse, who would you bring on board, and what company culture would you foster?

Yes, you didn’t come this far to only come this far. And it’s natural to find yourself asking these questions as that tiny flame of entrepreneurship finds its kindling and begins to burn.

As you pose these questions, you’re beginning to formulate a clear vision of what you would do at the helm of your own business. It’s an exciting concept that might also see you asking, is now the time?

It also begs the questions, what’s holding you back and what do you need in place to take the next step?

Is it support?

One of the biggest hurdles most people face when considering the idea of ‘going out on their own’ is the belief they will lose the business support they currently have.

Who will they turn to when it comes to accounting, property marketing, graphic design, reconciling those trust accounts, or general administration?

Traditionally, building a real estate business takes time and a significant investment of funds to create a team around you and put the necessary infrastructure in place.

But what if that team was already on hand? What of they’d walked the start-up phase countless times before and knew exactly what was required at each specific moment to get a new real estate business off the ground?

That would be one major hurdle you had surmounted. A task to tick off your to-do list, so to speak.

Is it training?

Whether you’re currently with a major real estate group or taking the first fledgling steps of starting your own brand, every real estate team needs to consistently get back to basics, upskill and then sharpen the saw.

This is an industry that evolves and changes at a rapid pace, driven by technology, the customer expectation and so much more.

Is it mentoring?

Whether it’s an accountability buddy, ongoing target setting and mentoring, or the ability to simply call a million-dollar lister and ask for advice, access to great mentors can be invaluable throughout your real estate career.

In fact, finding yourself a mentor for both business and areas of your personal life is something I wholeheartedly recommend.

But should you step out into your own business, that doesn’t mean you need to lose access to the mentoring that will take you to the next level.
