One of Australia’s most confident real estate agents shares his tricks of the trade and reveals what he did to stop being ‘boring’ like his competition.
A quick Google search of Zed Nasheet of LJ Hooker Hampton Park, in Victoria will turn up not only his impressive sales results but his media presence as well.
Mr Nasheet’s eye-catching property videos have been featured on news programs and the more popular clips on his YouTube channel have been viewed well over 10,000 times. He tells REB about the origins of his videos and the impact they’ve had on his career.
“Ninety per cent of [agents] are boring. When I talk to them, they bore me,” he said when asked why he started making property videos.
“You’re selling someone a dream out there, so [it’s] important to look excited and educate them. If you’re selling any product, look excited. Don’t be boring about it.”
Mr Nasheet got the idea to start making videos when he was looking for his own property and realised the photographs online did not look the same as the actual properties.
“The photos ... they don’t give much ... they look like something else and when you walk in there, it looks totally different and it lies to people,” he said.
After his videos started garnering attention, Mr Nasheet noticed his local community was responding well to them.
“Do you know how many times people come up to me at the shops and they’re like, ‘Zed, we love your property videos. Zed, you’re amazing, you’ve done an amazing job for that vendor’?” he said.
If Mr Nasheet’s videos are producing such great results, why aren’t more agents making them?
“Every single real estate agent out there didn’t like doing property videos [like these] because it’s outside their comfort zone,” he said.
“It’s all about working smart, not working hard. The only way you’re going to get your name out there is if you have a point of difference. What makes you different?
“That is a question you’ve got to ask yourself – what makes your approach different in comparison to 50,000 estate agents out there?”
