If you think the agents in REB’s Top 100 are only focused on rising to the top and besting their colleagues, you are wrong. REB spoke to three of the Top 100 Agents and they all shared similar views about being on top.
Being among the best in the industry is great, but helping others is more important, according to the agents.
PRDnationwide Newcastle and Lake Macquarie’s founding director Mark Kentwell says progressing in the Top 100 Agents ranking is getting harder, but he believes this is a good thing.
“There are more and more agents in there now and I support that, that’s great,” REB’s 58th ranked agent said.
Mr Kentwell said he will spend the next year focusing on the up-and-coming agents in his agency because “our business is about more than just me”.
Meanwhile, Phillips Pantzer Donnelley’s Alexander Phillips would “obviously love” to be number one again, but his business is more important than a ranking.
“Our sales are a lot higher than they were last year and they’re continually building, but to me it’s more about building our business and the people within our business and pumping them up more than myself,” Mr Phillips said.
“I’d rather see guys come through from our office and really flourish, which is what we’re working on at the moment.”
Fellow Phillips Pantzer Donnelley agent Jason Pantzer also prioritises hard work and boosting his team over trying to land himself a spot in rankings.
“I always believe in just waking up and doing the best that you can on any given day, and if that means that I’m number seven in the country, which I was this year, well so be it,” Mr Pantzer said.
“My focus for the year ahead is more so on building our business, and growing and mentoring the colleagues that we have to try and get them into the Top 100 (Agents).”
