What does it take to be a Top 100 agent? According to Jason Pantzer of Phillips Pantzer Donnelley, who ranked number seven in the REB Top 100, it might be easier than you think, as long as you’re prepared to work hard.
“Real estate’s not rocket science and the barriers to entry to real estate are minimal,” Mr Pantzer told REB.
“Work ethic is what it comes down to,” he said, adding that he sees up-and-coming agents who are guaranteed to be in the Top 100 in coming years because of their willingness to put in the hours.
“[The new agents] are in the office at seven o’clock every morning. They are there till seven o’clock every night, if not later. They’re working Saturdays, they’re doing letterbox drops at 4am to free up time so they can make calls during the day,” Mr Pantzer said.
These new agents will soon be the ones to beat because they recognise the importance of putting in the hours at the beginning of their careers to build their databases.
“Your success comes from the runs that you’ve got on the board, the reputation you build up in the industry and hard work,” Mr Pantzer said.
“I don’t think a Sunday has gone in 2016 where my business partner Alex [Phillips] and I haven’t worked...
“Whether it be one appointment or five appointments, we’re available seven days a week for our clients and I think in order to be a Top 100 agent, you need to be accessible and available to your clients, both buyers and sellers, 24/7.”
