In a bid to give back to its local community, a Sunshine Coast agency has kicked off a new video series to showcase some of the local businesses doing it tough as travel restrictions impinge on the tourism hotspot.
Harcourts Noosa business owner Nathan O’Neill and his team have decided to give something back to the region in which the agents live and work as the tourism-reliant area struggles through the pandemic.
“With everything that’s gone on this year, we really wanted to get out and support our local area with a new initiative,” Mr O’Neill said.
It’s led to the creation of Harcourts Noosa TV, a way that the agency can give back to residents.
“This really isn’t about us, it’s about giving back. Profiling the area and sharing the important message that this is an amazing place to live, shop, holiday or visit.”
An imperative of the social media videos, according to the business owner, was that it doesn’t come across as “another real estate agent promoting themselves”.
Early on, the decision was made to hire professional presenters to ensure an independent finished product.
“We see a lot of people promoting themselves in these types of videos, but I believe part of our job is to sell the area and support the people that are in it,” Mr O’Neill said.
“We really want to add value to our community and show off the great things we have here. Having independent presenters come in and really promote the area has enabled us to do that.”
So far, each video has managed, on average, more than 10,000 views, with Harcourts Queensland CEO Jonathan King applauding the initiative as “a brilliant vehicle of positivity for a place that has undoubtedly felt the effects of the current climate throughout their businesses, community organisations and general way of life”.
The CEO said its success was a testament to the character and respect Mr O’Neill’s team has in the greater Noosa region.
From Mr O’Neill’s perspective, “one of the main things that resonated with us when this came up in conversation was one of our (Harcourts) core values of ‘people first’”,
“That’s why we did it. It’s been about the community; it’s not a gimmick. It’s not about us; it’s about doing something for everyone and doing it right,” he concluded.
