A major real estate group has raised a record-breaking outcome for a local charity, in support of premature and seriously ill babies.
The House for Life charity auction, a partnership between Plantation Homes and Mater Little Miracles, achieved a record-breaking $1,489,000 on Saturday, 15 October.
All proceeds of the Helensvale auction will go directly towards Mater Little Miracles, a charity that provides support to prematurely born babies across Queensland hospitals.
It’s the ninth home to be built in support of the charity, and it saw 13 bidders eyeing out the double-story, four-bedroom home.
The House for Life Project was created in partnership between the Mater Foundation and Plantation Homes, in which a Plantation home is constructed and auctioned towards the charity.
“It was a terrific day for us, for the community and Mater Little Miracles. From all of us at Plantation Homes, the volunteer trades and suppliers, we are thrilled to continue to be part of this day and contribute to such a worthwhile cause,” said Plantation Homes general manager Alex Raleigh.
Every last cent from the sale is donated to the Mater Little Miracles program in support of the 2,000 seriously ill and premature babies born every year.
Over $6 million has now been raised across all House for Life charity homes, with $986,000 donated in 2019 from the last sale.
Coronis Real Estate Agency was selected in August to drive the sale alongside Apollo Auctions’ Justin Nickerson, who brought the gavel down on the winning bid.
A family from Hervey Bay placed the successful bid via phone call on the day.
Addressing the new owners, Mr Raleigh said that “they can be truly ‘house proud’ for both the stunning home they have just bought and for the phenomenal contribution they have also made to Mater Little Miracles”.
Andrew Thomas, Mater Foundation’s executive director, commented he was “over the moon” with the auction’s result.
“The record amount from this sale means it will go directly towards supporting around 2,000 of Queensland’s tiniest patients who are cared for in the Mater Mothers’ Neonatal Critical Care Unit each year,” said Mr Thomas.
“There’s something quite special about a community coming together to make a difference to the lives of sick and premature babies and their families,” he commented.
Jo Dryden, agency director at Coronis Real Estate, expressed the team’s excitement over the sale: “A good market combined with a stunning property all ensured we were able to deliver a great outcome. Our amazing auctioneer, Justin Nickerson, used his exceptional skills to extract every last dollar from the bidders on the day — this is why auction is such a great method of selling.
“We’re so proud and thankful to have been invited to be the selling agents for this fantastic event. Coronis has a very strong ethos of giving back, and this allowed us a wonderful opportunity to do so in support of families all over Queensland.”
