This week is set to be the busiest auction week since the week ending 8 December, when 2,617 auctions took place.

According to CoreLogic’s latest Auction Market Preview, 2,525 homes across Australia’s capital cities are scheduled for auction in the week ending 23 February, marking a 32.4 per cent increase from last week’s 1,907 auctions.

However, this figure remains 11.5 per cent lower than the same period last year, when 2,853 auctions were recorded.

Melbourne is set to exceed 1,100 auctions for the first time this year, with 1,139 homes scheduled to go under the hammer.

This represents a 39.8 per cent rise from last week’s 815 auctions but remains 21.8 per cent lower than the 1,457 auctions recorded at the same time last year.

Sydney is expected to see 991 homes auctioned this week, reflecting a 29.2 per cent increase from last week’s 767 auctions and a slight 0.7 per cent rise compared to the 984 auctions held during the same period in 2024.

Across the smaller capitals, Adelaide is projected to be the busiest auction market with 161 homes scheduled for auction, a 46.4 per cent increase from the previous week’s 110 auctions.

Brisbane is expected to see 139 homes go under the hammer, representing a 6.7 per cent decline from last week’s 149 auctions.

Canberra’s auction activity is set to rise with 82 auctions scheduled this week, up 43.9 per cent from last week’s 57 auctions.

Perth is set to host 12 auctions, an increase from the eight recorded last week.

A similar level of auction activity is expected next week, with just over 2,500 auctions currently scheduled across the combined capital cities.
