In April, Coronis agent, Solomon Michael, will sell this year’s House for Life to support critically ill and premature babies throughout Queensland.

Since 2008, Coronis has supported House for Life, a project that relies on the collaborative efforts of the Mater Foundation and Plantation Homes.

It’s the 10th house built and auctioned off by Plantation Homes, with the previous projects raising more than $6.5 million for the Mater Foundation to care for premature babies.

This year, a luxury design two-storey house with four bedrooms and an alfresco dining area is going under the hammer in Tarragindi, 8 kilometres from Brisbane CBD.

The 607-square-metre block is the first ever knock down rebuild of House for Life, marking a new milestone in the long-running initiative.

The initiative’s latest project is set to take place on Saturday, 5 April 2025.

It will serve a dual purpose by offering prospective home owners a property while supporting the Mater Little Miracles program, which seeks to improve outcomes for ill and premature babies.

Each year, community contributors donate their time and resources to create homes and provide critical support for families in need.

At the core of this initiative is a personal story that resonates strongly within the Coronis Group, as Andrew Coronis, co-founder of the Coronis Foundation, endured some of his most difficult days as a parent.

“In February 2001, we faced one of life’s most profound challenges when we said goodbye to our beloved son, Peter,” he said.

“Words cannot describe the pain we went through, and still do today,” he said.

During that difficult time, Andrew Coronis said that the compassionate care they received from the Mater Foundation comforted them despite their grief.

“But the wonderful people at the Mater made a very traumatic time of sadness just that little bit better,” he said.

“Anna and I vowed to help as many babies as we could and for families to not have to experience what we endured.

“That’s why we are doing this for the babies and their families.”

The upcoming auction will be led by Coronis sales agent Solomon Michael, who is pleased to be part of the charity project.

“It will be an incredibly special feeling in the room come auction day,” he said.

“Not only is someone going to purchase an incredible home, but the Mater Foundation will receive funds that will be life-saving for premature babies and their families.”

As a parent himself, Michael feels a deep connection to the initiative.

“My heart goes out to anyone who has their baby needing care in a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit),” he said.

“There are only four NICUs in Queensland and 23 in the country, and to have an initiative like Home for a Cure look out for these incredibly important and life-giving centres, there are no words how special it is.”

Michael sees the House for Life auction as a testament to the power of community and compassion.

“Knowing so many people have put their time, effort and energy into this one home,” he said.

“Additionally, what a privilege to have a home which has directly contributed to saving the lives of children and changing the lives of families forever.”
