The new ability of users to comment on shared listing collections aims to promote collaboration and conversation on site, according to the property portal.

The new feature, available on Homely’s Collections product, provides users with the ability to leave comments on property listings in their shared collections — enabling better engagement with those close to them.

Since Homely first launched Collections back in 2016, people have been able to “collect” their listings and save them to a personalised collection, which can then be shared with partners, friends, and family.

Having previously extended that functionality to allow users the ability to rate properties, Homely has now soft-launched the ability for users to comment on listings saved to a shared collection.

Homely’s head of product Luke Kenyon said users had voiced their frustration at having to use separate messaging platforms to communicate on listings they were interested in.

“So, we extended our Collections product to not only include the ability to rate properties, but comment on these so others can see,” Mr Kenyon said.

Explaining that consumers “want an experience where they can provide rapid feedback to their friends, family and partners”, the head of product believes that the brand’s agility is what enables it to listen to customers and consumers “and deliver on this faster than others”.

According to Mr Kenyon, the portal has already had “resoundingly positive feedback” about the product, pointing out that “it encourages collaboration and conversation on our site”.

He acknowledges that finding the “perfect” home “is most often a shared experience with others, whether it’s finding that perfect rental with friends, or moving somewhere new with your partner”.

“Not only is the process more engaging for people, it saves property seekers time while making the search a little bit easier,” Mr Kenyon said.
