A new feature of the Real Care app aims to make it easier for agents to reach out for help.
The free app to support better mental wellness and performance has revealed a new update, which enables users to share the app with a friend, providing help when it is suspected someone is not “fine”.
Real Care app has reported that the “Forward to a Friend” feature automatically suggests text and generates a link to be shared via SMS or messaging apps, in an aim to make it easier for agents and property managers to offer support when they suspect a friend is not okay.
RiSE director and principal of innovation and industry at CoreLogic Sarah Bell said the new feature has the potential to save lives.
“We’ve all had times in our lives when we know a colleague, friend or family member just isn’t quite right,” she acknowledged.
“We either don’t say something for fear of making it worse or don’t know what to say, or when we do try to raise it, the person will say they are ‘fine’ — or all three!”
She explained the new “Forward to a Friend” feature “gives a direct link to download the app together with a warm message that is supportive but not intrusive”.
“It shares with them the fact that you care, that you’ve noticed and gives them access to a powerful tool they can explore privately but which offers very real help,” Ms Bell continued.
The latest update of the app also touts that it is now easier to find the free counselling sessions that are available through the tool, thanks to the Domain Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
New RiSE director and head of customer solutions at Domain, Angus Ferguson, reiterated that anyone working within the industry has access to three free and confidential phone counselling sessions with trained mental health professionals through the app.
He said the measure “means having a trained counsellor to talk to is as easy as a phone call, regardless of who you work for, how big your office is, or where you’re located”.
“The changing real estate market coming off the back of the intensity of COVID is creating real stress and pressure in the industry, yet sadly, the figures show that one in 10 of those working in the industry feel they have no-one to talk to when they need help,” Mr Ferguson commented.
Ms Bell concluded by stating that “the combination of being able to share the app with a friend and connect them to counselling support gives everyone in real estate an extremely powerful tool for those times when they notice that a colleague or friend is not okay”.
“We encourage everyone in the industry to download the app and put it to use.”
