The technology giant has revealed the addition of a chief technology officer to its executive leadership team.
Steve Maidment will be joining REA Group on October 2023, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in technology and digital roles to the Melbourne-based headquarters, located in Richmond.
Mr Maidment joins the business from AutoTrader, where he was based in Toronto, Canada, and held the role of senior vice president and chief digital officer.
He touts his experiences as the chief digital officer at CrownBet and general manager for digital channels at Australia Post.
With further senior management experience at Phoenix Digital and Telstra, REA Group chief executive officer Owen Wilson has expressed delight at welcoming the leader into the group.
“I look forward to his contribution which will continue to accelerate our technological capabilities, ensuring our business remains at the forefront of innovation.”
“Steve’s experience in implementing transformative technology strategies that deliver high-performing digital products and platforms will undoubtably result in significant business value for REA,” he shared.
Mr Maidement and his team will be responsible for the platforms underpinning REA’s products, services and operations, and he himself will be tasked with leading the group’s technology strategy and development, REA Group reported.
Mr Maidment shares that he is “thrilled to join an exceptionally high-performing technology team within one of Australia’s foremost digital companies.”
“I have always admired REA Group’s culture. I eagerly look forward to making my own mark on this dynamic environment and collectively achieving remarkable milestones together.”
Mr Maidment’s alignment with the business will see Craig Templeton return to his role as chief information security officer and general manager of technology and data platforms, following Chris Venters’ taking of medical leave in August 2022, which had seen Mr Templeton take on the role of acting chief technology officer.
It’s been a busy period for REA Group, which recently shared details of a new CRM integration, the amping up of its artificial intelligence offerings and the move to 100 per cent ownership of CampaignAgent.
